SUNDAY- Parables “The Two Debtors” Luke 7:41-50
GOALS: (1) To help the children realize that ALL have sinned, ALL are unable to pay for their sins, but ALL may have their sins forgiven. (2) To teach God’s great forgiveness (3) To show love for Jesus by the way we live our lives. WEDNESDAY- A Story About Seeds “The Sower” Matthew 13:1-30 “The Tares” Matthew 13:36-43
GOALS: (1) To stress that we must be grounded in the faith, grow, and be fruitful. (2) To teach that we should never be too busy for God—we should take time out for God’s word to take root within us. (3) Instruct the children to compare the goodness of God with the badness of Satan. Remember to always be on guard against Satan.
SUNDAY- “The Good Samaritan” Luke 10:25-37
GOALS: (1) To enlighten that all around us are those in need: the lost in need of a Savior, the lonely in need of a friend, the sick in need of a visit, etc. (2) To educate that we should be kind to others, even if it is difficult.
WEDNESDAY- “The Mustard Seed” Matthew 13:31-32, Mark 4:30-32 “The Wicked Servant” Matthew 18:21-35
GOALS: (1) To advise the children how they grow in the church: by studying the Bible, learning memory work, and faithful attendance. (2) Educate the children on forgiving others. God always forgives us—we should forgive people when they ask.
WEDNESDAY- “The Rich Fool” Luke 12:16-21 “The Barren Fig Tree” Luke 13:6-9
GOALS: (1) To inform that we are rich, not because of our possessions, but because we pray, read our Bibles, give money to the poor, and try to please and obey God in every way we can. (2) To emphasize that we must grow—we cannot remain in the same place. As we grow, we can bring others to Christ.
SUNDAY- “A Rich Man Invites Jesus To Dinner” Luke 14:1-24 “Counting The Cost” Luke 14:25-35
GOALS: (1) To stress that the person absorbed in earthly attachments finds it difficult to think of spiritual things. (2) To educate the children that following Jesus would involve great sacrifices.
SUNDAY- “A Lost Coin and A Lost Sheep” Luke 15:1-10
GOALS: (1) To help the children realize that Jesus and the angels in Heaven rejoice over one lost soul who turns from sin and trusts in God. (2) To underscore that Jesus cares for us and wants us to stay close to Him.
WEDNESDAY- “The Prodigal Son” Luke 15:11-32
GOALS: (1) To acknowledge that when we go away from God and do things we know are wrong, God forgives us and welcomes us back—if we truly repent. (2) To help the children see the consequences of his leaving: he lost his money, his manhood, and his self-respect.
WEDNESDAY- “The Rich Man And Lazarus” Luke 16:19-31
GOALS: (1) To underscore the importance of being compassionate and kind while we are here on earth. (2) To teach that our salvation comes through God’s word.
SUNDAY- “The Pharisee And The Publican” Luke 18:9-14 GOALS: (1) To compare the two. The Pharisee was boasting about the things that he was not and the good things that he did. The Publican was humble, repentant, and was truly seeking mercy. (2) To stress that an humble attitude pleases God.
SUNDAY- “Unhappy Workers” Matthew 20:1-16
GOALS: (1) To highlight that no matter what age you become a Christian, your reward is the same. God loves everyone exactly alike. (2) To teach that we show our love for Jesus by working happily for Him without thought of being paid.
WEDNESDAY- “The Pounds” Luke 19:11-28 “The Two Sons” Matthew 21:28-32
GOALS: (1) To emphasize that the unfaithful and rebellious will be condemned. (2) To enlighten that one must do God’s will, because saying that we love Jesus is not enough.
SUNDAY- “The Wedding Feast Matthew 22:1-14 GOALS: (1) To acquaint how very important it is not to ignore God’s invitation. We should always obey God in everything we do.
WEDNESDAY- “Ten Young Girls Invited To A Wedding” Matt. 25: 1-13 GOALS: (1) To stress that we should live for Jesus and always be ready for His return because we do not know when that time will be.
SUNDAY- “Treasures In Heaven and Parable of Talents” Matt. 6:19-21 Matt. 25:14-30 Luke 12:33-34
GOALS: (1) To edify that the Christian is a steward of God. We cannot use our time, money, and talents for God just whenever we feel like it or if there is nothing else to do. There is no middle ground; either we are all out for Christ or we are not for Him at all. (2) To stress that we will give an account and either receive a reward or be punished.
WEDNESDAY- “Jesus Visits Mary and Martha” Luke 10:38-42 “Zacchaeus” Luke 19:1-10 GOALS: (1) To emphasize that we should always be ready to listen to God’s word—never be too busy. (2) To inform that it is never too late to include Jesus in our lives. (3) To advise that Jesus helps us when we try to do better.
WEDNESDAY- “The Rich Young Ruler” Matthew 19:16-30 Mark10:17-31 Luke 18:18-30
GOALS: (1) To educate that we have a choice. We can be in God’s family and be a part of His kingdom, or we can refuse God and be lost. (2) To teach that we must not let material things keep us from serving God.
SUNDAY- “Jesus Blesses The Children” Matthew 19:13-15, Luke 18:15-17 “Jesus Rides Into Jerusalem” Matthew 21:1-16, Mark 11:1-11 Luke 19:28-44
GOALS: (1) To inform that Jesus loved children so much that He used their kind, good hearts and their trust and belief in Him as an example for the grown-ups. (2) To highlight that we show our love for Jesus by praising Him.
SUNDAY- “Jesus Cleanses The Temple” John 2:13-16, Mark 11:15-17 “The Widow’s Mite” Mark 12:41-44, Luke 21:1-4
GOALS: (1) To emphasize that we should be reverent in worship and respect God’s presence-- stress proper attitude and behavior. (2) To underscore that a Christian should give to God cheerfully and generously.
WEDNESDAY- Jesus Is: “The Bread Of Life” John 6:22-71 “The Light Of The World” John 8:12-30 “The Door” John 10:9 “The Good Shepherd” John 10:1-21
GOALS: (1) “Bread Of Life”—Jesus is our spiritual food given by the Father to those who ask, seek, and knock. (2) “Light Of The World”--Jesus is the spiritual light for us to follow to remain faithful. (3) “The Door”—to teach that Jesus is our spiritual door, the only way for our salvation. (4) “The Good Shepherd”—to reassure the children that Jesus is the shepherd, or comforter, that we need in times of loneliness and trouble.
SUNDAY- “Remembering Jesus, The Last Supper” Mark 14:12-26, Luke 22:7-30 John 13:1-17, 14:1-3 “The Garden Of Gethsemane” Matt. 26:30-46, Mark 14:26; 32-42 Luke 22:39-46, John 18:1-14
GOALS: (1) To point out that when Christians take communion, everyone should be very quiet and reverent, remembering that Jesus died for us, He arose, and He lives right now in Heaven. (2) To acknowledge that Jesus went through great suffering and anguish in the garden because He loves us, and He wanted to do His father’s will.
WEDNESDAY- Jesus is: (continued) “The Resurrection And The Life” John 11:25 “The Way, Truth, And Life” John 14:6 “The Vine” John 15:1-6
GOALS: (1) “The Resurrection And The Life”-- to teach that as Jesus was raised, we shall be raised from the grave for life eternal. (2) “The Way, Truth, And Life”—to educate that Jesus is the only way we can get to Heaven. (3) “The Vine”—to establish the fact to the children that they can lead their friends to Christ.
WEDNESDAY- “Betrayal and Arrest” Matt. 26:14-16, 43, 47-56 Mark 14:43-52, Luke 22:47-53 John 18:1-27 “Trials of Jesus” Caiaphas Matthew 26:57-27:10 Anna John 18:12-27 Pilate Mark 15:1-20, John 18:28-19:16
GOALS: (1) To enlighten that deception in any form is wrong. (2) To teach that our love for Jesus should grow stronger when we think of His great sacrifice.
SUNDAY- “The Crucifixion” Matthew 27:32-56, Mark 15:21-41 Luke 23:26-49, John 19:16-37
GOALS: (1) To edify that Jesus loved us so much He was willing to suffer the horrible death of crucifixion. He willingly died for us and made it possible for us to be in God’s family. (2) To educate that we should always do what is right even when it is not popular to do so. |
