SUNDAY- “Resurrection of Jesus” Matthew 28:1-15 “Resurrection Appearances” 1. Jesus Appears To Mary - John 20:1, 11-18 2. Jesus Appears To His Disciples - Luke 24:13-40, John 20:19-31
GOALS: (1) To show that the resurrection is an event that strengthens our hope of life after death. Jesus conquered sin, Satan, death, and the grave. We can have control of our lives and not let Satan rule. (2) To stress how Jesus assures us that someday when He returns , all believers will be with Him forever and ever. Because He lives, we can live, too. Jesus is alive. We believe even though we have never seen Him. God exists and is real.
WEDNESDAY - “Jesus Promises to Establish The Church” Matthew 16:16-20; Mark 9:1; Luke 9:27 “The Great Commission” Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:15-18; Luke 24:45-47 “The Ascension” Mark 16:19-20; Luke 24:50-51; Acts 1:9-11
GOALS: (1) Talk about how the church is the family of God and follows His commands. (2) Stress that if we love Jesus, we will be obedient and work for Him. We need to tell the good news until He returns. (3) To teach that Jesus is in Heaven watching over us. Because He lives, we have the promise that someday, we too, can live in Heaven.
SUNDAY- “The Church Established” Acts 2; Acts 20:28: Ephesians 5:25 “Day Of Pentecost” Acts 2 1. Gift of Holy Spirit 2. Peter’s Sermon
GOALS: (1) To show that the church refers to all people who belong to Christ and obey His will. It does not mean a church building. People from all parts of the world make up His church. (2) To teach that the Holy Spirit was active in the early church and that through the word, the Holy Spirit guides us today.
WEDNESDAY- “The Arrest of Peter and John” Acts 3-4 “Peter and John Tell About Jesus” 1. The Generosity Of The Church - Acts 4:32-37 2. Ananias and Sapphira - Acts 5:1-11 a. Dangers Of The Tongue - James 3 3. Stewardship - II Cor. 9:1-7
GOALS: (1) To emphasize that even though we may be persecuted for doing what is right, we should never be afraid to tell people of Jesus. (2) To teach that God wants us to be honest with everybody, realizing a half-truth is just the same as lying. (3) This is a good time to emphasize the importance of having a good attitude toward giving.
SUNDAY- “Seven Helpers Chosen” Acts 6,7 1. Stephen, A Christian Martyr 2. Caring For Widows 3. Deacons In The Church I Timothy 3:8-13
GOALS: (1) To help the children understand that as the early Christians faced many hardships, we too must be willing to do the same. (2) Discuss local care for widows in the congregation. (3) To teach the job of a deacon. WEDNESDAY- “Phillip The Missionary” Acts 8:1-25 1. Phillip Teaches A Eunuch Acts 8:26-40
GOALS: (1) To teach the children the plan of salvation, stressing the importance of baptism. Salvation is a free gift from God if we obey His commands.
SUNDAY- “Saul As A Boy” Acts 22:3 “Saul’s Conversion” Acts 9:1-18; 22:1-16
GOALS: (1) To introduce Paul as a child. (2) To teach that Jesus sometimes uses the most unexpected people for His work. (3) To stress that God’s gift of grace was given to all the world.
WEDNESDAY- “Paul Preaches, Then Escapes In A Basket” Acts 9:19-31
GOALS: (1) God gives us opportunities to do good. Talk about these opportunities and how God expects us to use them to help His followers. (2) To stress that God always protects us when we put him first.
SUNDAY- “The Story Of Dorcas” Acts 9:36-43 “The Fruits Of The Spirit” Galatians 5:22-26
GOALS: (1) To teach that we show our love for Jesus by being helpful and kind to others, because doing good is a part of being a follower of Jesus. (2) Discuss how followers of Jesus will act and think differently because the spirit of God lives within them.
WEDNESDAY- “Preaching To The Gentiles” Acts 10 1. Peter And Cornelius
GOALS: (1) Discuss that God is no respecter of person. We should bring the words in the Bible to everyone on the earth so they may all love Him and obey His commandments.
SUNDAY- “An Angel Opens Prison Gates For Peter” Acts 12:1-19
GOALS: (1) Stress that we should always thank God for His great love and His constant care. Discuss the importance of prayer.
WEDNESDAY- “Paul’s First Missionary Journey” 1. Paul Becomes A Missionary Acts 11:19-30 2. In Paphos, Antioch of Pisidia, Lystra, and Antioch of Syria Acts 13:2-14:28 3. Angry People Stone Paul Acts 14:8-28
GOALS: (1) To study the journeys of Paul and his companions, and to understand that they faced many problems preaching Christ to the Jews and Gentiles. (2) To emphasize that God will never forsake us.
SUNDAY- “The Second Journey Of Paul” 1. Visiting the Brethren Acts 15:36-41 2. Timothy, The Missionary Acts 16:1-3; II Timothy 1:1-15, 3:14-17 3. Church Leaders I Timothy 3; Titus 1
GOALS: (1) To discuss that Paul visited brethren to help the new Christians organize their churches. (2) To emphasize that as a child, like Timothy was, we should strive to have a clear understanding of God’s word and obey it. (3) To stress that it is part of God’s plan for certain men, called elders, to care for the church. Discuss their qualifications.
WEDNESDAY- “The Second Journey Continued” 1. God Calls Paul To Macedonia Acts 16:8-12 2. Lydia Is Converted Acts 16:12-15 3. Christian Fellowship II Corinthians 6:14-18; 7:1
GOALS: (1) Stress being ready to obey parents when asked to do something, as Paul was to obey God. (2) Discuss that hospitality is a great part of the Christian life. We should be ready to follow God’s plan for us to teach others the good news of Jesus. SUNDAY- “The Second Journey Of Paul Continued” 1. Paul, Silas, And The Phillipian Jailer Acts 16:16-40
GOALS: (1) To emphasize that singing songs to Jesus can help us to be happy. (2) To stress that God is with us even when bad things happen. He can turn it into something good.
WEDNESDAY- “The Second Journey Of Paul Continued” 1. Traveling To Thessalonica and Berea Acts 17:1-14 2. Sermon In Athens Acts 17:16-34 3. Traveling to Corinth Acts 18:1-18 4. Priscilla And Aquilla Acts 18: 1-3, 18-28
GOALS: (1) Discuss missionaries that our congregation supports. (2) To encourage the children to use their talents to bring others to Christ. You cannot spread God’s Word by keeping quiet. (3) To explain that you and I can be hospitable, and also teach others, as Priscilla and Aquilla did.
SUNDAY- “The Third Journey Of Paul” 1. Burning Evil Books Acts 19:1-20 2. Trouble In Ephesus Acts 19:21-41
GOALS: (1) To stress that we should avoid tricks that Satan may cast before us. God wants us to get rid of anything that is of Satan and hinders us in our Christian walk. (2) To teach that we should stand up for what is right even though it means that our friends may laugh at us. It should be a priviledge to suffer for Christ. If we love something more than God, we can also be guilty of having idols.
WEDNESDAY- “The Third Journey Of Paul Continued” 1. Eutychus Brought Back To Life Acts 20:1-12 2. Paul’s Farewell To Ephesus Acts 20:13-38
GOALS: (1) Discuss the power of God---the frailty of man. We should be eager and willing to listen to God’s Word. (2) We should always live faithfully to God even if we are persecuted by our friends. SUNDAY- “Paul Arrested” Acts 21:26-22:29 “Trials Of Paul” Acts 22:30-26:32
GOALS: (1) To teach that we should never be afraid or ashamed to speak out for Jesus— remember, not everyone will listen. (2) To stress that even when we make mistakes, God is with us if we obey Him. He never forsakes us or casts us away, but He helps us to continue in the right path.
GOALS: (1) To stress that you will not have a visible uniform to wear in God’s army, but His presence in your life will help you stand up, fight bravely, and win all the battles against Satan. (2) To teach that we need to stay in “training” every day by reading our Bible and praying.
SUNDAY- “Paul’s Courage On The Way To Rome” Acts 27,28 1. Shipwrecked 2. Bitten By A Viper
GOALS: (1) To emphasize that it is easy to trust God when everything is going our way, but not so easy when you are facing something difficult. (2) Stress that God wants us to serve Him wherever we are: at home, school, church or play. Sometimes He uses our troubles to do something wonderful for us. God looks after us in every way.
WEDNESDAY- “A Runaway Slave” Philemon
GOALS: (1) To recognize that it takes courage to admit that you have done wrong. When people repent, we should forgive them and treat them kindly. SUNDAY- “The Seven Churches of Asia” Revelations 2, 3 “Faith and Works” Hebrews 11; James 2
GOALS: (1) To teach that these letters brought commendation, complaint, and correction to the seven churches. Whatever troubles face the church, God will always be stronger and keep it safe. No evil power should ever separate us from God. (2) To emphasize that faith and trust in God is necessary, but faith must be followed with “good works.”
WEDNESDAY- “The Second Coming Of Jesus” Matthew 24:27-31: Mark 13:26-27; Luke 21:25-28; Acts 1:9-11; I Thes. 4:16-17; I Peter 3:10 “The Final Judgment” Matt. 25:31-46; Rev. 20:11-15 Rev. 21:8-27 “New Jerusalem” I Cor. 2:9; Rev. 21,22:1-5
GOALS: (1) To emphasize that from scriptures we learn that Jesus’ coming will be personal, bodily, visible, in the clouds, and with the angels. (2) To show that all that do not obey God will be punished, and all that obey will go to Heaven. (3) Stress that we should not let anything stop us from doing God’s work, because even though life may be difficult, we will be rewarded in Heaven.
